A piece of home, built for everyone who’s ever missed theirs.

When we first landed in Vancouver, everything felt new and full of possibility. But it didn't take long to notice something was missing. There was nowhere — not a single place — where we could find the Nepali things we'd grown up with. The snacks, the spices, the little everyday items that carry so much more meaning than their price tag. We'd packed plenty from home, suitcases full of the flavors and comforts we loved, but it all lasted only a month.

After that, something shifted. Life slowly lost a little of its flair. The days started to blur into routine, one chore after another, and we couldn't shake the feeling that something was off. It took us a while to name it: we were missing that small spark — the taste of home, the familiar comforts — that quietly made us happy.

That's when the thought struck me. If we felt this way, so far from home and longing for the things we'd left behind, surely we weren't alone. There had to be others — students, families, newcomers — feeling that same quiet absence. So I started looking into it.

I wanted to do this the right way. The proper way. The legal way. As an international student, I knew I couldn't afford to cut corners, so I took my time researching every step, learning everything I needed to know, and making sure the foundation was solid. It wasn't quick, and there were plenty of moments of doubt. But when everything was finally in place, I made a decision: take the risk and just go for it.

And we did.

Since then, the journey has been nothing short of incredible. We've met so many wonderful people — customers who became friends, fellow Nepalis who felt that same spark light back up, and a community that welcomed us with open arms. It's been one hell of a ride.

Today, Danphe Stores proudly serves customers across Metro Vancouver and beyond, bringing authentic Nepali products closer to the community. From everyday essentials and snacks to specialty items that are difficult to find elsewhere, our goal remains simple: to make it easier for people to stay connected to the tastes, traditions, and memories they grew up with.

It's been almost a year now since we opened our doors. We've come a long way, but we're only getting started. We have many more projects, ideas, and plans on the way, and we're excited for everything that's still to come.
