A hand-felted wool coaster, rolled from natural wool into firm felt balls and stitched together into a thick disc. At 21 cm across it is large enough to work as a trivet or pot stand as well as a drink coaster — wide enough for a teapot, a casserole dish or a candle. Wool felt takes a hot mug without marking the table underneath, and it has enough give that it will not scratch a polished or waxed surface. There is no plastic backing and no glue: the wool holds itself together. Each coaster is made by hand in Nepal from natural wool, so the colours and the arrangement of the balls differ from one to the next. Yours will not look exactly like the photograph. How to use
Use as a coaster, trivet, pot stand or candle mat on any hard surface.
Care
Spot clean with cold water and a little mild soap, then air dry away from direct heat. To wash fully, hand wash in lukewarm water, press the water out without wringing, reshape while damp and air dry. Never machine wash or tumble dry — heat and agitation shrink felted wool.
